Let's focus on a simple solution to a common problem – how to increase food storage space in a small kitchen without redesigning the entire kitchen.
While you may have come across a popular white rolling cart at places like Amazon, Target, or Michaels, I recently tried the 1EasyLife cart from Amazon on TWO different projects and found it to be a great versatile solution designed more for your kitchen needs. Additionally, the 1EasyLife rolling cart comes with two removable baskets that can be hung outside your drawers or cabinets for quick and easy access to spices or various bottles. Let's go over three ways this affordable solution can hack your kitchen food storage problem.
3 Ways to Use this Cart
Sometimes produce can end up all over the counter due to lack of space. This little cart* can roll right into the pantry and back out as needed to keep your produce organized. The white tray included in the package helps to catch any debris that may fall off and prevents it from falling onto the floor. For instance, onion skin can easily fall off, but with the tray, this is no longer a concern.
To watch how simple it was to put this cart together check the video here! In this particular scenario, we utilized two long wire containers from Target to separate our client's two types of onions, while the bottom basket was dedicated to storing potatoes. Additional baskets are not required if you wanted to store larger items in the open bin. To snag this version of the cart click here!*
Have toddlers attempting to climb the shelves in search of snacks? Use this cart* to create a toddler-friendly snack station. Just pop in some yummy snacks and watch it become a tiny toddler's dream come true!
And guess what? It's not just a kitchen star! Take it outside for the ultimate summer party trick! Wheel it out to the backyard for events such as summer splash parties and play dates.
Grab the white version of this wire cart HERE*! On the bottom row we used Brightroom Large Frosted bins from Target. The middle bin was repurposed from the client's home.
Another fantastic idea is to use a cart for your spices. Want to see the cart in action!? I've got you! To see how we created the spice cart click HERE!
Side note: The white containers you see in the picture ARE NOT included with the cart. I added these containers so they can grab and go for just a category OR roll the whole cart out for a spicy dinner! Items used in addition to the cart are listed.
Shown below are the 4L Stacking Bins from Target. I used four on the bottom two racks. I also used two of the 5L Stacking Bins as shown in the picture above.
The three examples shown above were used in small pantries, which is why I recommend the 3 Tier version.* Its size of 15.74"W x 11.81"D x 23.03"H is just right for taking advantage of the ample space between the first shelf and floor while being compact enough to fit in tight spaces. Plus it allows you to still fully utilize the top basket without running into the lowest pantry shelf.
However if you find yourself in need of a taller cart they do make a 5 Tier* measuring 11.81"D x 16.14"W x 39.37"H in Black* and in Silver*
As always you would need to measure your space to see which would work best for you.
